xcweather

XCweather was originally created to provide weather information for glider pilots planning cross country ("XC") flights. It's a good source of continuously updated weather observations and also weather forecasts.

The weather observations cover the whole country and are automatically updated about every 10 minutes so you can see what the weather is like "now". Click on (or hover over) a location to get a summary forecast for the next few days.

You can also get more detailed forecast information covering the next week. The information comes from Weather Service computers in the USA where the data is "public domain" and not subject to the commercial restrictions that the UK Government imposes on the Met Office. However note that the forecast for a given location is interpolated from a larger scale forecast. For the UK, Met Office forecast models are more detailed and likely to be more accurate, at least for the next day or two.
