Met Office Weather Information

The Rain Radar page allows you to see rainfall maps every 15 minutes for the last 3 hours. You can see how the rain is moving and predict when it will reach, or clear from, Setley Pond. But remember that showers can start and end locally as well as blowing in from elsewhere! Also the radar does not necessarily see very light rain.

Surface pressure maps are also available on the Met Office site either in colour or black and white. The latter are the same maps that are sent out by weatherfax to shipping. If you are familiar with weather maps, either version will give you a good idea of what is to come. Analysis and Forecast maps are updated twice daily at around around 0730 and 1930 and span the next few days.

The Inshore and Coastal Waters Forecast is part of the morning "Shipping Bulletin". Its only for the next 24 hours but it's one of the few weather forecasts on the radio which gives an indication of the likely winds. If you don't wake up early you can read it on the Met Office web site!

The BBC Coastal Waters Forecast appears to be based on the Met Office Inshore Waters forecast but is more detailed in both time and region. It also extends slightly further ahead.
